Kelsey Michael
Kelsey celebrates the release of her debut solo album Lethowsow on DimpleDisc CD and LP: Listen: https://orcd.co/kelseylethowsow Lethowsow has been championed by Gilles Peterson on BBC 6 music, and enthusiastically reviewed by Uncut; ‘this beguiling debut is infused with natural wonder.’ The sonic vision for Kelsey’s music laces her love for uplifting 60s and 70s classic singer-song writing - artists such as Laura Nyro and Carole King - with a contemporary art-pop edge. Lethowsow, an old Cornish word meaning ‘the milky ones’was a name for the Seven Stones reef off Lands End.The sea is a major character in Kelsey’s music, along with the nature and wildlife of farthest West Cornwall where she lives. Storytelling, folky drones, dynamic vocals and dreamy cinematic song-landscapes all play a part in her live show, performed with High Llamas bassist Jon Fell.
Kelsey features on Jocelyn Pook’s score for Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut and sings on many High Llamas albums.
